After sharing just a few pages of our “Master Curriculum” with people our feedback was quite overwhelming.
“…at first I thought it was going to be a bunch of stuff from survival manuals and re-written interweb wiki sites. This has to be one of the most thorough lesson plans I had ever seen, plus I learned a few things. Can’t wait to see more-.” anonymous bushcraft/survival instructor.
“…why haven’t others shared this information? I mean the information may be old or obscure, but the old timers really made it simple back then. I’m glad you took the time to put this out there.” anonymous survival instructor.
“…I’ve never heard of a “lifelong” learning program until now. It makes total sense AND very excited to see other affiliate instructors add to the ever evolving online lessons!” anonymous MC student.
This feedback came from an “inside look and first impression” email I had sent to a few people in the outdoor industry along with lessons covering 2 of the most common methods to start a fire.
My idea was to share a basic lesson with people who most likely knew how to do these tasks well so I would then be hearing input from an educated jury. Good , bad or indifferent I was pushing forward with this project. The macro scheme was huge and very daunting. The only way to do this right was to make it even larger and more detailed, It sounds crazy but to me it made sense.
Its like the old question “how do you eat an elephant?” one bite at a time!
How do we create the most comprehensive online learning program that combines various methods primarily seated in a virtual learning environment but transferable to instructor-led live classes???
One lesson at a time.
Starting with the basics and accompanied by Instruction that will be provided through pre-recorded videos, live classes and virtual seminars including: lectures, demonstrations, practical applications, guided discussions, coaching, interactive learning to include Socratic seminars, independent study, including reading, self-pacing, and field research.
It is a program that fills the current void. Its a program that evolves just as we do. When we learn more- we add to the lessons.
Tonight ill be sharing my thoughts at this stage of the Master Class Series tonight at 9pm EST in the lodge and hope you join in.
