
Here I share a “tidy” method on how to trim and remove scales from a self-bow in this “over the shoulder” clip.
…after the hide has been glued in place...a method that will also be in the members only section, I begin to trim off the excess.
A small sharp file is perfect for this task.
I use a feathering technique. Only light pressure and glancing contact is needed.This helps “fade” or blend the snake skin into the wood surface.
When finished, lay a strip of duct tape on the snake skin and pull in the direction that removes the unwanted scales the best. Most of the time the tape is pulled from the head to the tail…this was not the case here!
